The Faizabad Provincial Library was officially inaugurated by the Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Mosadiq Khalili, and the Governor of Badakhshan, Dr. Shah Waliullah Adeeb, in Faizabad on June 26, 2013, in the presence of local government and community representatives as well as the management of the Aga Khan Foundation.
The construction of the library was completed under the Stabilisation Programme for Northern Afghanistan (SPNA), which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO) through Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) and implemented by the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF).
