Beside him are representatives from the Salvation Army, the Red Cross and Anil Karim, head of Mission: Possible, a grassroots Calgary volunteer group born out of the floods that also has alderman John Mar as one of its champions.
“We’re hoping to get started on Wednesday,” says Karim of his group that has more than 6,000 volunteers on file (call 403-923-9445 to join).
Karim hopes to get started right away, but says it may not be until Wednesday that he has the bus transportation finalized. “If Stampede’s motto is hell or high water, we should help residents of all the high waters come and enjoy Stampede.”
