Over 4,500 people took part in the 2013 Calgary World Partnership Walk Sunday at Prince’s Island Park.
The park was littered with walkers, food trucks, and stages of live entertainment as organizers sought to raise $1.25-million dollars.
The money is used to assist poor areas of world with things like improving education, and better health care.
Umir, 15, says the event is important, which is why he got involved.
“Some people don’t have the basic need filled like we take for granted sometimes. And it helps that all the proceeds go to the people in need, with nobody in between,” he says.
