Samina Baig becomes first Pakistani to Climb Mt Everest  - Details from Alpine Club of PakistanSamina Baig created history when she became first Pakistani women to reach the summit of Earth’s highest mountain – Mt Everest (8,848 m) from its South face situated in Nepal at 7:40 a.m on 19th May 2013. Samina Baig D/O Muhammad Khayal Baig, aged 22 years, is a native of village Shimshal, Gojal, Hunza Distt, Gilgit-Baltistan.

She was part his Everest expedition titled “Gender Equality and empower women through adventure sports” to climb Mt Everest from South face, planned by her brother Mirza Ali, another mountaineer of repute during the pre-monsoon season 2013 with finances from their friends from New Zealand. The basic theme of the Expedition was to encourage women in mountaineering and outdoor sports, giving them awareness and work in tourism.
