Aga Khan Palace, Pune, India

The Aga Khan Palace in Pune, India, was built in 1892 by Sultan Mohammed Shah, Aga Khan III. Apparently, he built it to provide jobs to villagers in that area who were suffering from famine at the time. More than 1,000 people were employed and the palace was built in 5 years. It is surrounded by a beautiful garden.

  1. While visiting India for first time. My wife, brother and myself did go on a day trip to visit the AgaKhan Palace and jamatkhanas in Pune. Just to info you, if you have time, make a point to visit the Palace. The drive from Mumbai to Pune is quiet scenery and very nice highway. 3 hrs drive.
