Islamabad, Friday, January 11, 2013 – There was unanimous agreement among health experts, politicians, policymakers and donors attending a health assembly on Thursday that maternal, newborn, child health (MNCH) and nutrition should be declared a national priority.
The participants also pushed political groups for including the subject in their manifestoes and advocating at their respective regional and national forums for better public health.
They all had gathered at the final session of a series of seminars on reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) and nutrition at a local hotel.
The event was organised by Aga Khan University’s (AKU) Division of Women and Child Health with the support of United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Another session conducted by the Division of Women and Child Health, AKU in partnership with Institute of Development Studies, Sussex and funded by DFID, UK, explored the under-nutrition context and challenges in Pakistan.
