Ali-Faizan VirjiSo young yet so in tune with the needs of society – that, in a nutshell, is Ali-Faizan Virji.

The 17-year-old was the recipient of the Calgary YMCA community youth peace medal in 2012 for the various contributions he has made for the good of those around him.

“I felt really humbled,” said Virji over the phone from the village of Paud, India, where he is attending the United World College. “I guess my upbringing has brought me to the state where I want to help make a difference, no matter how big or small it is.”
