KABUL (PAN): President Hamid Karzai inaugurated reconstruction work on the mausoleum of former king Timor Shah, his office said on Saturday.
Damaged during decades of war, the tomb’s reconstruction was launched by the Ministry of Information and Culture with the cooperation of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF).
A statement from the Presidential Palace said Timor brought the capital empire, the current Afghanistan, to Kabul and he was one of the great personalities, Karzai said in the inauguration ceremony of the tomb.
“I am happy to remember Timor Shah on this occasion,” the president said, thanking Karim Aga Khan for the reconstruction of the tomb in Bagh-i-Babar, Qala Ikhtiaruddin in Herat and implementing health, education and cultural projects in the country.
