East Africa power supply gets boost as new plant launchedJinja. The East African electricity pool got  a boost thanks to the just completed Uganda’s 250 megawatt Bujagali hydro power plant on Nile River. The $900 million investment project was inaugurated by President Yoweri Museveni and His Highness the Aga Khan just a day before Uganda’s independence celebrations that took place on Tuesday.

The plant – cited by His Highness the Aga Khan as proof of a successful public private partnership – was a joint venture between the government of Uganda and The Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and has five units each generating 50 MW on River Nile.
