Burlington’s Fareen Samji out-drove defending champion Lisa Vlooswyk of Calgary to win the women’s division of the Canadian National Long Drive Challenge.
Samji’s longest drive measured 312 yards, four yards farther than runner-up Vlooswyk. The two were competing at Stark’s Golf Course in Port Rowan, Ont. on Sept. 2.
“Lisa is a great competitor, and tough to beat, but I was relaxed all day and stayed loose and I guess the cards were in my favour,” said an elated Samji.
