Tahir Merali: Astronaut instructor

Trained in mechanical engineering and project management; Customer-oriented technical design and business aptitude; Goal focused with a strong work ethic and international work experience; Professional experience includes space/aerospace, petroleum, and automotive industries, including several scientific research projects and community ventures; Presented work in 7+ countries to variety of audiences.

Tahir is an innovator, creating opportunities where none other exist, supporting industry and public alike.

Mr. Merali formerly worked at the European Space Agency’s (ESA) European Astronaut Center in Koln, Germany training as an astronaut instructor on ISS systems and operations. He has visited facilities in Europe, Russia, United States and has presented in 7+ nations with support of the Canadian Space Agency and EADS Astrium. He offers a unique perspective on the intercultural space community and is currently developing a microgravity experiment flying into orbit in early 2012. Recent engagements, in addition to publications, include a 2000+ audience in Prague, Czech Republic at the International Astronautical Congress (2010) and a classroom guest speaker for local Calgary secondary school students (2011). Mr. Merali is a graduate of the International Space University (M.Sc Space Management) and the University of Toronto (B.A.Sc Mechanical Engineering).
