KUALA LUMPUR: Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim lauded the Aga Khan Trust for Culture for bringing the “Treasures of the Aga Khan Museum: Architecture in Islamic Arts” exhibition to the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia.
Dr Rais thanked the Aga Khan, who is Imam of the Shia Ismaili community, for his work in safeguarding Islamic art, culture and heritage sites worldwide.
“Architecture has always been one of the first expressions of cultural identity and this exhibition showcases the heights of Islamic civilisation,” said Dr Rais in a statement yesterday.
This is the first time the exhibition has been in South-East Asia. Its final destination is Toronto in 2013.
