In remarks at the High School Assembly March 23, Dr. Mahmoud Eboo urged Westminster High School students to think critically and engage in the world as a means of helping heal religious differences among cultures. Dr. Eboo is president of His Highness Prince Aga Khan Shia Imami Ismaili Council for the United States, Australia and New Zealand, overseeing the social and administrative governance of the Ismaili Muslim community in these countries. In his remarks, he noted that all of the world’s great religious call us to treat one another with respect and care and that each believes in a single Creator. There is fundamental compatibility among the faiths, he believes. Dr. Eboo developed his perspective from having been born in Kenya, raised in the United Kingdom and spending much of his adult life in the United States. He is the co-founder of Quantum Laser, a company that he sold to Honeywell in 2001.
Dr. Eboo was introduced by 11th Grade student Sarah Hakani, a member of the Student Diversity Leadership Council, who opened the assembly with the Muslim prayer she prays each day.
