The more ideas they share, the more common ground they discover. During a series of meetings at different houses of worship, community members of the Christian, Jewish and Muslim faiths have been sharing their perspectives on stories in the biblical Book of Genesis.
This Sunday, Grace United Methodist Church will host a group as they discuss the story of the blessing of Jacob.
“The objective is to foster better understanding among the different faiths about our common stories among the common monotheistic culture,” said Pastor Lisa Telomen of Grace, who will help facilitate this week’s meeting.

Nizar Jiwani of the Ismaili Jamatkhana in Naperville says any program that facilitates understanding between people of different faiths is welcome.
“Interfaith dialogue, like the Genesis project, allows for fruitful discussion of the different religions, their history and scripture,” Jiwani said. “In Naperville we have great opportunities to meet and interact with the diversity of religious beliefs from the different Abrahamic faiths, as well as different cultures and ethnicity. Interfaith activities such as this organized through NILA show pluralism in action in Naperville.”
