Close to 145 highly skilled and professional women from Canada’s nuclear industry attended the 8th annual Women in Nuclear (WiN) conference, held in Oakville this September. WiN is a worldwide association of women whose goal is to promote a better understanding of the benefits of nuclear energy and radiation technologies.
Presented at the conference was the WiN Leadership Award, which is given to members who have made an outstanding contribution to the success of WiN-Canada. Cheryl Cottrill, Executive Director of WiN-Canada, presented the award to Rumina Velshi, past treasurer and board member (retired from OPG) and Janet Donegan, OPG Nuclear Outage Manager and past WiN-Durham Chapter Chair and board member, for their outstanding contributions to WiN. Both Rumina and Janet have been board members since WiN’s inception in 2004, and up to the election of the new board in 2011.
