The Qutub Shahi tombs have been neglected long enough and are in ruins. However, it took the Aga Khan Trust for Culture to extend a helping hand and restore the historical structures, the final resting place of the erstwhile rulers of Hyderabad.
A delegation from the AKTC and state archeological department visited the historic Qutub Shahi tombs in Golconda on Wednesday for a first-hand assessment of the structures, some of which are more than 450 years old.
Director-general of AKTC Louis Monreal, director Cameron Rashti, and project director Ritish Nanda visited the tombs for a preliminary survey and met Prof. P. Chenna Reddy and his team to discuss various aspects of the proposed integrated development programme. The programme will be implemented after getting the necessary approval from the state government.
Mr Monreal said, “We are exploring the possibilities of taking up the project. We will prepare a detailed presentation for our board and will proceed with the necessary government formalities.”
