September 28, 2011 – Canada’s Governor General is speaking about the importance of volunteerism and giving to charity at an afternoon event at the Ismaili Centre in Burnaby.
About 150 community leaders and members of the Ismaili community were invited to hear Governor General David Johnston speak.
Spokesman Ali Solehdin says the centre emphasizes the friendship and exchange of ideas the Queen’s representative will speak about.
He says, “he is the Governor General of Canada and everyone is very excited.”
Earlier today, Johnston met Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson and attended a reception at city hall.
