Wed Jul 13 – The Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, arrived in the country on Wednesday evening for a private visit.
The Aga Khan, who is also the founder of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), was welcomed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka and senior government officials.
Others at the airport were AKDN Kenya resident representative Aziz Bhaloo, Aga Khan Council for Kenya president Zul Abdul and the council’s vice-president, Anwar Hajee.
During his visit, the Aga Khan will preside over the opening of the Aga Khan University Hospital’s state-of the-art Heart and Cancer Centre.
