One local youngster has spent the better part of his young life raising money to fight global poverty.
On Sunday, Tsawwassen 10-year-old Adam Mawji and his family were among the crowd at the World Partnership Walk at Stanley Park.
The annual walk is one of 10 that takes place in Canadian cities every year to benefit the Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC), a non-denominational charity with more than 30 years of experience in finding and sharing effective and lasting solutions to the challenges of global poverty.
Mawji’s mother, Zahara Mawji, said she has been involved with fundraising for the organization and got her son in on the act at a young age. With her help, he started officially fundraising for the annual walk at the age of three.
To date, Mawji has raised around $15,000 and he has no plans of slowing down.
