No one says no to Sultan Mitha.
Mitha, who turns 80 in June, has raised $35,000 for Sunday’s World Partnership Walk. Since she started 20 years ago, she’s collected more than $200,000.
“I took out the word impossible from my vocabulary,” she said. “Sometimes they say no so I say, ‘Please listen to me. Your money is going to go seven times more because organizations match your donation. It’s a big bargain.’ They say, ‘OK, write down $500.’”
Mid-interview with 24 hours, she darted off to snag someone who immediately wrote a cheque for $1,000.
