Aly Verjee reports from DjiboutiAly Verjee is a political analyst, writer, and management consultant specializing in the contemporary politics of Africa. He is the author of the recently published: Race Against Time: the countdown to the referenda in Southern Sudan and Abyei, a major study commissioned by the Rift Valley Institute. Thousands of people marched in protest through Djibouti on Friday, rallying against the ruling elite as well as economic stagnation within the small African nation.

“The march was peaceful and diverse,” said Aly Verjee, director of the international election observation mission to Djibouti, who witnessed the event.
