An Indian movie playing to packed houses in Calgary, called My Name Is Khan, has a powerful message that in these days of tension and terrorism, needs to be heard. A Hindi movie with English dialogue and subtitles, the film’s theme revolves around the aftermath of 9/11 and its impact on Indians living in the U.S.

Rizvan is played by one of Bollywood’s leading actors, Shahrukh Khan.

  1. Being a Muslim, I empathize with the experience of my fellow Muslims post 9/11. I encourage iconic figures like Shah Rukh Khan to make a film about being a “Khan” or a Muslim in India. That would be a bold and courageous stand. Being a Muslim in India is far more difficult than being a Muslim in America. Look at the Pew study on Muslims in America and compare it to the Sachar Report (Indian Minority Commission) on Muslims in India.

    According to Sachar Committee report the status of Indian Muslims are below the conditions of “Scheduled Castes and Tribes” in India.

    Google it and read the full report. You will be amazed.
