The spiritual and mystical tradition of Islam is a living tradition of poetry. It provides sources for the human quest for meaning, a fruitful life of service and a compelling relationship to Allah. Shamas Nanji stands in a rich and compelling tradition drawing on the work of some of the greatest poets in human culture and gives his voice in service to an ancient song that is ever new, enriching Canadian culture and broadening the imagination of those who make this country their home.
