The keynote speaker for the day’s event will be Aliya-Jasmine Sovani, a host and producer with MTV Canada, who also volunteers to teach English and social skills to girls who have come to Canada from Afghanistan and has travelled to Sudan to look at the issue of young girls being forced into marriage.
“We want the young women to know they can make a difference in their school and community,” Thibeault explained. “We’re asking the speakers to discuss the pros and cons of their jobs, but also their passions.”
