Adil Adatia, Lethbridge, AB
Adil Adatia was chosen as the National Award winner from among the 15 regional winners of the 2009 Toyota Earth Day Scholarships. He is an exceptional young environmentalist recognized locally for his successful environmental initiatives and nationally for his scientific research.
As the Founder and President of his high school environmental club, Adil spearheaded the creation of a drought-tolerant garden on unused high school grounds to address the issues of water shortages and endangered species in southern Alberta. The garden will also have a registered Monarch Butterfly Waystation opening in June, with public information sessions to follow on how to develop drought-tolerant landscaping throughout the community.
