Aga Khan University Centre of English Language invites you to the 5th International Seminar on Teaching English in Multilingual Contexts: Current Challenges, Future Directions to be held on April 18-19, 2009 at Aga Khan University Auditorium, Stadium Road Campus, Karachi, Pakistan.
The seminar will bring together English Language Teaching professionals from around the world to discuss, reflect on and develop their ideas, and the programme will offer many opportunities for professional contact and development.

The seminar helped the participants to understand the different perspectives on teaching English language. The plenary sessions by keynote speakers were really enlightning, entertaining and thought provoking. I was surprised to see so many foreigners despite the prevailing situation in our country. Indeed it was a bold step on their part to come all the way from Holland, Spain, U.K, etc.and to talk about issues pertaining to teaching the language. Our own local educationists were equally good and hats off to them for throwing such good light on the issues, concerns , problems in Pakistan regarding ELT.A job well done by AKU!

In the face of increasing globlisation ,communicative competence in English has become important for success in all walk of life .the theme of this seminar was quite relevant to the present scenario.In most countries where both children and adult face difficulties of learning English as a second language,practically for the educational pursuits.The seminar unfold some of the key issues of teaching English language in multilingual context such as Pakistan.the participants presented viable recommendations as future strategies to improve English language teaching and learning through evidence based research.Well don AKU!

This is of immense pleasure that aku is going to arrange a srminar of teaching english language in multilingual context . This will enhance the qulity of this language in our country ,and we as a nation, would be able to communicate with the rest of the world in a better way . The participent will present their valuable suggesstion and this will of great importance.
