60 early childhood education specialists to come to Kyrgyzstan to exchange experience

Sixty early childhood education specialists will come to Kyrgyzstan in May from abroad to exchange experience, Head of Aga Khan development Network Nurjehan Mawani said during the meeting with Minister of Education and Science Abdylda Musaev on March 19.

Minister Musaev expressed his deep gratitude to Aga Khan Development Network for its activities in Kyrgyzstan. “I’ll make my utmost to continue our cooperation in educational sector,” the Minister said.

Nurjehan Mawani told the Minister about construction progress of the University of Central Asia in Naryn, vocational and professional education programs aimed at increase in employment and income of local population, as well as the Aga Khan School in Osh.

Nurjehan Mawani mentioned the recent statement concerning the Law On Early Childhood Education made by the Minister at Parliament. In this regard she told the Minister about early childhood development programs implemented by Aga Khan Foundation in Kyrgyzstan.

She also noted that that in May 2009 approximately 60 AKDN education specialists from India, USA, UK, Afghanistan and other countries implementing AKDN programs will come to Kyrgyzstan to share the experience with Kyrgyz colleagues from AKF’s Early Childhood Development Program.

Nurjehan Mawani mentioned that AKDN plans to build the Aga Khan Academy in Bishkek and that this idea was endorsed and supported by Prime Minister Igor Chudinov in November 2008. This will be a residential school providing opportunities for comprehensive physical and cultural development of children. The Academy will be unique as it will be based on the curriculum of International Baccalaureate and students will be admitted on merit, she added.

Aha Khan Development Network (AKDN) is a group of private international, non-denominational agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people in Central and Southern Asia, Africa and Middle East.
