Nation Media Group to invest in Rwanda

Regional media giant Nation Media Group’s plans to invest in Rwanda’s media industry are right on course.

The group’s Chief Executive Officer Linus Gitahi said on Friday the company would start operations between the month of June and July 2009 in Kigali. Mr Gitahi and the group’s Board Chairman, Dr Martin Aliker, met Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame on Friday to discuss investment modalities.

“We are obviously looking for all the licences and, internally, we shall be deliberating amongst ourselves, to see which one we come up with first.

“I have a feeling that we might be here sooner rather than later. As for which platform we will be operating first, I think that’s something we shall be looking at and announcing shortly,” Mr Gitahi said.

Stressing that NMG’s vision is to be the ‘‘Media of Africa for Africa,’’ Mr Gitahi told the press at Urugwiro Village, the Office of the President, that operations in Rwanda will not be any different from those in Uganda and Kenya.

  1. It would be a good effort of Nation Media group in Africa. The people will be able to listen their own voice but of the other countries point of view.
