Canada: Do you have a pair of old ice skates that don’t fit? Do you want to share your love for ice skating with your brothers and sisters in Tajikistan?
The Aga Khan Youth and Sports Board for Canada is pleased to announce the launch of a National Ice Skate Drive from January 9th to February 8th, 2009.
In 2004, The Aga Khan Trust for Culture initiated the upgrade of the city park in Khorog, Tajikistan that is central to the lives of the residents there. Once complete in 2009, the Park will offer a place for residents to relax in and enjoy nature. The Park will feature a pond, restaurant, theatre, café and arts and crafts complex. When winter approaches, the pond in the Park will freeze and provide an ideal skating rink.
The Jamat is invited to donate pairs of ice skates that will be sent to the residents of Khorog, Tajikistan. Collection will take place in all main Jamatkhanas on the following dates: Friday, January 9th, January 16th, January 23rd, and January 30th.
