Pakistan: Government setting aside funds for poverty alleviation

PESHAWAR: [NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haider Hoti] said the government for the first time had set aside a huge amount of Rs one billion for poverty alleviation in the province.

“For this purpose, pilot projects would be launched in two districts and later the programme would be extended to other districts of the province,” the chief minister said while talking to a delegation of Agha Khan Development Network at his office on Monday.

Future and ongoing programmes of the Agha Khan Development Network in fields of education, health and other social departments in Chitral district were discussed in detail on the occasion.

The chief minister appreciated the programmes of the foundation and assured his government’s support towards its development activities in Chitral.
