Two Memos of Understanding Signed between the Government of Syria and Aga Khan Development Network

Aleppo, (SANA) – In the presence of Prime Minister , Mohammed Nagi Otri, and his Highness, Prince Karim Aga Khan, Chairman of Aga Khan Network for Development, two memos of understanding connected with the restoration works at Serail building , and construction of Kansareen Garden in Aleppo.

The investment contract memo connected with the Serail was signed by Syrian Minister of Tourism, Saadallah Agha Qalaa , and Mahmoud Jean Mohammed of Agha –Khan network.

The other memo of understanding which is connected with construction of Kansareen Garden was signed by Aleppo Governor, Tamer Hija, and Luis Monreal, Director General of Aga Khan Trust for Cultural.

The conclusion of the restoration works at the Hall of the Throne in Aleppo was celebrated as well. The prime minister addressed the attendants by speaking about the prospects of joint cooperation between the Syrian government and Aga Khan Development Network and the agreements which were signed between the two sides in tourist, cultural, and developmental spheres with the aim of preserving the cultural and constructional heritage of the Arab and Islamic nations, in addition to cooperation in sphere of rural development.

For his part, Prince Aga Khan expressed desire to boost cooperation between his network and the Syrian government, underlining the importance of the agreements which were signed in various spheres.

  1. This is just great news. I hope it will become a nice park in Quinisrin.
    Maybe it can be just as nice as the Azhar-park in Cairo. The historical city of Aleppo deserves such a park and I hope, with your help, one day the city will be as beautiful as it was before and I believe this can be with the help of the Aga Khan organisations.

    It is also great news what happened in Damascus. I hope that Aga Khan will also adopt some houses in the old city of Aleppo.
