Coastweek – – Just a week after being declared the 1st runners up in the National Junior Swimming Championships, a crown they missed by a mere 5 points.
The Aga Khan Academy Swim Team was at it again last weekend.
This time around in another championship, the Interschools Aquathon Championships.
This event was the first one to be held in Kenya and a total number of 11 schools and clubs participated with almost 400 athletes taking part in various age group categories.
Determined to hit back and inspired by the saying ‘if u decide to hit, hit hard’, the team managed to scoop 37 medals of which 16 were gold,13 were silver and 8 were bronze.
The girl’s team was 1st with 254 points, the boy’s team was also second to none with 326 points and the Aga Khan Academy was declared The 2008 Interschool Aquathon Champions.
Being the first event all the times our swimmers made in both the individual and relay events are records to be broken next year.
Otherwise the success didn’t come easy it was sheer hard work during training by the swimmers.
And as the team coach puts it “The distance which the shot put travels depends on the effort put in throwing it”.
