Ismaili featured in Hill Times: Alykhan Velshi

This article appeared today in The Hill Times, the parliamentary newspaper for the Government of Canada. Alykhan Velshi was voted by his peers onto the list of Top Twenty-Five Political Staffers for this year.

“Coming in at 25 on the list is Alykhan Velshi, director of communications for Secretary of State for Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity Jason Kenney (Calgary Southeast, Alta.), a new addition to the Terrific Twenty-Five. Conservative staffers who work alongside Mr. Velshi had nothing but praise for his inclusion on the list. “He never met a bureaucrat that he didn’t believe could be made redundant and made it a point of letting them know that, directly or indirectly,” said one person. Another of Mr. Velshi’s colleagues drew attention to his intelligence, explaining, he’s “extremely clever” and is “simply one of the smartest guys I’ve ever worked with.” Mr. Velshi graduated from the London School of Economics and was called to the bar in New York State. “All of this at 24 years old,” his colleague said. “He is a great asset to the office. The day will come when he moves on and we will miss him. The horizon is wide open for him.” ”
