Prime Minister Igor Chudinov on Thursday met with Aga Khan Development Network Resident Representative Nurjehan Mawani. The issues related to implementation of AKDN projects in Kyrgyzstan were discussed during this meeting, reported Prime Minister’s pres office.
PM Chudinov underlined importance of AKDN projects that support remote mountainous parts of the country, its projects on microfinancing and education sector.
Nurjehan Mawani said the Aga Khan Development Network intends to continue providing support to the Kyrgyz Government in solution of socio-economic problems of the country’s regions. Apart from social projects, AKDN is ready to take part in various economic projects, privatization processes. At persent, the possibility of investments into civil aviation and telecommunications are under consideration.
However, education, health care and rural community development are among priority areas in AKDN activities, Nurjehan Mawani added. She said AKDN pays a special attention to early childhood development and welcomed Prime Minister Igor Chudinov’s serious attention to problems of children’s literature in the Kyrgyz language. Nurjehan Mawani said AKDN published children’s reading book and plans to circulate it across the regions of the country.
PM Chudinov said it is required to coordinate efforts of international organizations and the Government in this to make this work more efficient. PM Chudinov proposed to AKDN to take part in organization of the contest for the best children’s work in Kyrgyz language in three nominations – nursery rhymes, children’s fairy-tales, children’s fiction. The volume of works by prize winners is supposed to be published after the contest.
Among other issues the two sides have discussed construction of the campus of University of Central Asia in Naryn, cooperation in professional technical education.
At the close of the meeting Prime Minister Igor Chudinov asked Nurjehan Mawani to pass invitation to Prince Aga Khan IV to visit Kyrgyzstan, reported Prime Minister’s press office.
