Contest winners to represent Pakistan in US – Winners represented Aga Khan Higher Secondary School

Intel National Science Olympiad was held here Thursday and young scientists presented their innovative research-based projects in different categories, says a press release.

The Science Olympiad was part of series of ‘Intel Provincial Science Fairs’ held recently across Sindh, Punjab, NWFP and Balochistan where young scientists presented their projects in fields of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Sciences, Mathematics and Physics. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, Shahid Ahmed, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The National Science Olympiad is affiliated with the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), one of the world’s largest pre-college science competitions, showcased more than 120 science projects submitted by young scientists from all across the nation.

Projects displayed at the National Science Olympiad were assessed by a panel of renowned judges for further selection in the upcoming Intel ISEF 2008, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia in May. The grand winners’ for the individual category of the National Science Olympiad, as announced are Raja Ahsan Mahmood for his project, ‘Variable Colour Thermometer’ and Mohammad Awais, for his project, ‘Ultimate Control’ from the Pak Turk International School Peshawar. Winners of the group category represented the Aga Khan Higher Secondary School for their impressive project on Drug Therapy of Selvey nano particle to cure MRSA infection.
