Ismaili Community
Home popular with the Aga Khan Ivato
The Ismaili community in Madagascar is celebrating. The arrival of His Highness the Aga Khan, yesterday, Madagascar will be an unforgettable experience for them, especially for younger members of the community ismaili composed of some 2000 worshipers.
A warm welcome was given to Shiite Muslims imamites to Ivato airport with conduct of red carpet. Madagascar is among the 35 countries visited by this high spiritual personality as part of its Golden Jubilee célebré of July 11, 2007 to July 11, 2008.
Integration accomplished
“My visit follows an invitation from the President of the Republic and his government,” said the Aga Khan when he arrived. This visit is not the first, the third after those of 1966 and 2003.
But for the Ismaili community, this official visit is a recognition of its existence. Highly active in Madagascar, this community develops
Social programs outside the framework spiritual. Especially at the level of civil society, education, rural development and microcredit.
The election of Dramsy Nizar, MP elected from Madagascar in Port Bergé, confirms the integration of this community in Madagascar. It was also noted the presence of Hassim Amiraly, Radjabaly and other traders, who came to welcome their spiritual leader to Ivato yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Malagasy government was represented by Rajemison Rakotomaharo, Speaker of the Senate, together with Marcel Ranjeva, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Harison Edmond Randriarimanana, Minister of the Environment, Water and Forests.
