Celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), the BA organizes some artistic, scientific and social events, including concerts, exhibitions, lectures and seminars. The festival program includes the following:

Celebrating the fifth anniversary of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) festivities will highlight the achievements of those five years before the President and Mrs. Mubarak and other guests.

Architecture Excellence in the Muslim world (AKAA winners retrospective)
Located in the main exhibition hall in the BA Conference Center (BACC), this exhibition shows the breadth and variety of the 95 projects selected from 28 countries over the last 30 years to receive the Aga Khan Award for Architecture (AKAA). The lessons learned fro these projects about conservation of heritage, as well as solving the problems of the poor in the slums of the cities or the neglected rural areas of the rapidly developing and turbulent countries of the Muslim societies of today. The lessons also show that beauty is not hostage to wealth, and that elegant, world class architecture exists in these developing countries and the AKAA has given awards to some of the best and the most diverse. All in all, it is an exhibition that is as pleasing to the eye as it is engaging for the intellect

International conference on Aga Khan Award and its developmental role in Islamic world

As part of the celebrations on the occasion of the BA’s fifth anniversary, the BA will organize conference on the Aga Khan award, which was awarded to the BA in 2004, and its developmental role in Islamic world, the conference program is as follows:.

Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak inaugurates architecture, society conference

Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, chairperson of Bibliotheca Alexandrina Board of Trustees, attended Tuesday 23/10/2007 a conference on architecture during a tour of the Library as part of its fifth anniversary celebrations.

After that, Mrs. Mubarak opened an exhibition of Agha Khan Award for Architecture retrospective.

To mark the 30th year of the Agha Khan Foundation Award for architectural projects, the BA is organizing the scientific conference and exhibition on the Agha Khan Award and its role in development of the Islamic world.

HE President Mubarak and Mrs. Mubarak Attended the BA Fifth Anniversary Celebrations

Alexandria— HE President Mubarak and Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak attended the BA celebration marking its fifth anniversary on 23 October 2007, with the participation of more than 300 dignitaries, Nobel Laureates, Ministers, men of letters, intellectuals, foreign and Arab countries’ Ambassadors, BA Board of Trustees (BoT) members, BA friends from all over the world, and Directors of the Foreign Cultural Institutes in Alexandria.

Following his arrival at the BA, HE President Hosni Mubarak; HRH Prince Karim Aga Khan, the Founder of Aga Khan Award for Islamic Architecture; and Dr. Ismail Serageldin, Director of the Library of Alexandria, inaugurated Architecture and Society exhibition, organized by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC) in collaboration with the BA. The exhibition features models of the Award for Architecture, the historic cities program and other outreach activities, supported by the AKTC. The Award won by the BA in 2004 was also highlighted in the exhibition. Following the inauguration of the exhibition, HE President Mubarak gave an address on the occasion of the BA fifth anniversary.
