Mosque Emir Khayer Bek after restoration and conservation by Aga Khan Trust for Culture

View of Mosque Emir Khayer Bek from inside after restoration and Conservation in Cairo, Egypt, 25 October 2007. The Mosque was built between 1502 and 1520. The Aga Khan Trust for Culture under the supervision of the Supreme Council of Antiquities initiated a project to restore the entire complex. The missing section of the minaret was reconstructed in accordance to historical documentation in 2003 while the conservation of the mosque and mausoleum was completed in 2006. The mosque will open 26 October. EPA/KHALED EL-FIQI
