CHITRAL: A certificate distribution ceremony, following a two weeks long English language enhancement programme, was held here at the Professional Development Centre Chitral (PDCC) of the Aga Khan University Karachi.
The programme was conducted for 29 jobless graduate women from Drosh and Chitral tehsils. The main objective of the programme was to build the capacity of women to enable them to appear confidently in interviews for various organisations.
Yarkhun Union Council Nazim Muhammad Wazir was chief guest on the occasion, which was also attended by District Council Member Riyasat Khatoon.
Shaba Afzal delivered a speech on the importance of the English Language and emphasised its different aspects. She termed the programme as very useful and said that it would hopefully change the life of women in Chitral. She thanked the PDCC for providing them an opportunity to enhance their English and their confidence. Razia Sultana also spoke on the importance of the English language and its need in present times. She stressed that English was an International language for communication and it was must to learn this language.
Female students presented a tableau and a drama to reflect the importance of the English language. The Yarkhun UC nazim also stressed upon the students to improve their English. Programme Facilitator Sultan Ali also expressed his views about the session. Later, the chief guest and Lady Councillor Riyasat Khatoon distributed certificates among successful students.
