Ismaili Muslims will celebrate 50 years of his reign as the community’s leader on July 11
As Ismaili Muslims the world over celebrate 50 years of Prince Karim Aga Khan’s reign as the community’s leader on July 11 this year, Farida Parmar will say a silent prayer thanking the Imam for the glorious gift of life.
Homeless, destitute and suffering from tuberculosis, Farida was struggling to support herself and her two daughters in a non-descript village in Gujarat. Twenty years later, she is leading a healthy and comfortable life in Mumbai.
Farida’s daughters went on to receive a sound education and are now well-settled in their personal and professional lives. “His Highness made it possible for us to make a new beginning,” she says.
