Paroo’s career includes domestic and international leadership in complex health care delivery organizations, academic institutions, the social sector, technology companies and venture-funded startups.

Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Paroo currently serves as a senior advisor to Pam and Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay and co-founder of Omidyar Network. Paroo originally started working with the Omidyars as president and CEO of the Omidyar Foundation and later transformed that operation into what is now Omidyar Network. Before that, he served as president of IFP and Associates. Prior to IFP, he was founder and CEO of Qualitas Healthcare International.
From 1987 to 1993, Paroo was president of Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and CEO of a number of hospitals in the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) system. From 1977 to 1980, he served the Aga Khan Foundation as director of commissioning and later as a board member of the Aga Khan Foundation-USA.

Iqbal is a souce of continuing inspiration to all who had any association with him. He is a role model for especially the young who can benefit from his professional achievements, compassion towards others, and instilling the value of hard work. All my students know all about him and are encouraged to emulate him.
