German parliamentarians visit Aga Khan Development Network’s educational projects in Osh
The German Parliamentary Delegation has visited educational programs of Aga Кhаn Development Network (AКDN) in Osh.
The Delegation visited two educational projects – the Aga Кhаn School and the central kindergarten #69 in Osh.
The Aga Кhаn School in Osh which is operated by Aga Кhаn Education Services (AКES) has enrolled 490 students since its inauguration in 2002 and will be graduating its first class this year.
The central kindergarten #69 was selected by the Early Childhood Development (ECD) program of the Mountain Societies Development Support Program (MSDSP) of Aga Кhаn Foundation, because it is а kindergarten – primary school. One of the objectives of this ECD program is to make а smooth transition for the children from kindergarten to primary school and track the children’s development during this period.
The German Parliamentarians reviewed the kindergarten building to get an insight into the conditions before its rehabilitation by MSDSP which has initiated rehabilitation of 14 central and 31 satellite kindergartens in Osh oblast.
“For us, German parliamentarians, we have learned about the work of Aga Khan Development Network in Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian countries. We especially appreciate AKDN’s initiatives to open to young generations chances for а better future, regardless of their religion, regardless of the financial means of their parents and without any pre-conditions. Participation in education, the access to higher education is the very best investment of а country in to the future,” said the German parliamentarians.
“We value the important relationship between Germany and Aga Кhаn Development Network,” said Nurjehan Mawani, the Aga Кhаn Development Network Representative for the Kyrgyz Republic. “And since Germany has the current presidency of the EU, this visit is of particular importance. It follows the recent signing of the Joint Declaration in Brussels between the European Commission and His Highness the Aga Кhаn. This visit to educational programs in Osh oblast is part of our joint commitment to support equitable and sustainable human development”.
The German Parliamentary Delegation arrived in the Kyrgyz Republic on March 11 to strengthen relations with the Kyrgyz Parliament, learn more about the political, economic and social development of the country and identify areas for further cooperation within the framework of а future EU strategy for Central Asia.
