CHITRAL, 02 Apr 07: Number of dead bodies being recovered from under the snow in the nothern villages of Washich, (Torkhow), Momi (Arkari) has increased Monday. 54 people are so far feared dead in this unprecedented catastrophe in Chitral. ( List of names can be seen on the Urdu page).
A C130 sortie and choppers of the Army aviation and AKF were used for relief operations on Monday. The people all over Chitral seemed much aggrieved over this natural calamity resulting in the loss of human lives.
A special meeting of the All pensioners Association Chitral chaired by it’s patron Wg Cdr (r) Fardad Ali Shah expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and prayed for the blessings of the departed souls. It also paid tributes to pensioners in the calamity hit areas who are in the forefront in carrying out rescue operations. The association decided to set up a relief camp to collect contributions for the affected people.
