Ismailis in the News: Nurjehan Mawani – Board of Governors Quest University

Nurjehan Mawani, C.M.: Nurjehan Mawani today represents the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in the Kyrgyz Republic, a career change that follows her many years of distinguished service with Canadian government organizations. She joined the AKF, a private, non-profit and non-denominational international development agency, in 2005 from her position as Senior Advisor on Diversity to the President of the Canada School of Public Service (CSPS). Prior to that, she served for two and one-half years as a Commissioner of the Public Service Commission of Canada. A native of Mombasa, Kenya, Nurjehan Mawani practiced law in London, England and Vancouver prior to becoming Deputy Chairperson and then Chair and CEO of Canada’s Immigration and Refugee Board, followed by her appointment to the PSC. She is a recipient of the Order of Canada (C.M.) and numerous other awards for her contributions to a number of not-for-profit organizations.
