Bibi Noor Foundation in Chitral offers scholarships and support to the marginalised

By Adnan Amir Khan, a resident of Chitral, Pakistan

Mr. Nooruddin Jalal, an Ismaili from the remote regions of Chitral, is providing scholarships for education, support for children with disabilities, and community services that transcend sectarian lines. What’s most remarkable is that the majority of the people he helps are from Sunni backgrounds, which has changed perceptions, and built powerful bridges between communities in an area where Ismailis are a minority.

The Bibi Noor Foundation, named after his beloved mother, is rooted in the values of love, service, and humility. Although his mother did not receive formal education, she raised Noor with deep wisdom and a sense of duty. His work today stands as a tribute not just to her memory, but also as a beacon of hope for countless families in the region.

Noor has become a household name across Chitral. Mothers speak about him with pride and gratitude, and children look up to him as a role model.
