Princess Zahra Aga Khan Visits Makerere University, Strengthening Ties and Championing Innovation

Princess Zahra Aga Khan recently visited Makerere University, reflecting on her father’s admiration for the institution. Accompanied by her daughter, Sarah Boyden, she was warmly received by Prof. Buyinza Mukadasi, the university’s Director of Research and Graduate Training.

During her visit, Princess Zahra toured the Makerere University Innovation Pod (UniPod), a collaborative initiative with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students. She expressed her appreciation for the partnership, stating, “This collaboration exemplifies our shared commitment to empowering the youth through education and innovation.”

The UniPod serves as a creative hub where students can develop solutions addressing local and global challenges. Princess Zahra engaged with students and faculty, discussing various ongoing projects. She emphasized the importance of such initiatives, noting, “By nurturing young talent and providing them with the necessary resources, we are investing in a brighter future for our communities.”

Her visit underscores the enduring relationship between the Aga Khan Development Network and Makerere University, highlighting a mutual dedication to educational excellence and societal development.
