I first started working in tech ten years ago. I remember everything about my first start-up. The joys of developing and launching new things, that at that time were revolutionary and pushed the edges of how one could engage with content on their mobile smartphone. I also remember being one of the few females in the organization and the number of gender-focused issues I experienced both at the organization and in male-dominated spaces. It was this experience that led me to further develop my digital skills and volunteer to teach technical skills to young girls in Toronto. During workshops I would use Mozilla’s education tools to show girls how easy it was to code and create online.
