Renovated by the Aga Khan Trust, opening next year, tomb that ‘inspired’ the Taj Mahalby Somya Lakhani for Indian Express: Covered in a green net and scaffolding, the majestic tomb of Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan in the Nizamuddin area holds plenty of secrets — peacock medallions, the Hindu swastika, a floral tank, hamams, and jharokhas. Since 2014, this 16th century garden-tomb has been undergoing renovation by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture as part of its ‘Nizamuddin area Urban Renewal Initiative’. It is expected to open to the public by mid-2019. The renovation is being done by AKTC along with the Archaeological Survey of India.
