Khalid Merchant: 90 Days In Egypt Taught Me It’s YoungrySource: Youngry

For the last three months, I’ve had the opportunity to be on assignment, through Uber, in Cairo, Egypt. Over these last ~90 days I’ve made a lot of observations that show me that Egypt, until recently an economic powerhouse in Africa, embodies the Youngry mentality.

1. Egypt is young AF

In a country of almost 90 million people, over 51% of the population is under the age of 25. In contrast, just over 32% of the US population falls in that same bucket.

2. Egypt is fairly well educated

While there’s a significant gap in wealth distribution within Egypt, the population is still among one of the more educated in the region. Those who have money often attend private universities and also go abroad for their education. With that in mind, public universities are free for Egyptians and most of the youth attend institutions of higher learning.
