Last year, Calgary family physician Karim Surani stood at a crossroads. As director of 11 local medical clinics – providing services ranging from family physician care to non-surgical medical aesthetics – he was ready to expand to new locations, but his legacy telephone system held him back.
“Every time we wanted to do something to the system, we had to call in the IT guy,” he says. “We had to pay lots of money for every change we wanted to make. And everything had to be done through him. We were at his mercy.”
